Jen Groff, owner and Artistic Director of Diverse Dance Company, has been teaching dance for 22 years, 14 of which have been in Grande Prairie. Jen grew up in the Edmonton area and was formally trained there in all disciplines of dance, including two tap syllabi—Al Gilbert, up to and including grade 9, and I.S.T.D. through Advance level 1—as well as two ballet syllabi—Vaganova and I.S.T.D. Her teaching career began in and around Edmonton, but after running Grande Prairie’s NOW Dance for 3 years as Artistic Director, she purchased and rebranded the studio 8 years ago, and now calls Grande Prairie home.

Jen’s students have won a variety of scholarships and awards from competitions in both BC and Alberta. In 2018, Diverse Dance Company was named Runner Up Top Studio at ShyAnn Dance Festival in Edmonton and received the ELITE Studio Award at Northern Force Dance Challenge in Grande Prairie. Many of her students have gone on to dance professionally in Edmonton, Vancouver, New York, and on cruise ships.

Jen has won numerous choreography awards for her dances, including the ELITE Choreographer award at Northern Force Dance Challenge in 2018 and the fall of 2020. As owner of Diverse Dance Company, she has been asked to participate in arranging dances for various community performances, including GPRC’s Presidents Ball, Festival of Trees, and many others. Jen has done guest Choreography for Edmonton Contemporary Dancers and, more recently, choreographed Broadway Live Broadway’s Beauty and the Beast and Grande Prairie Live Theatre’s The Addams Family.
